With a burgeoning local population and substantial increase in tourists, large-scale production of both straw mushrooms and oyster mushrooms has become economically viable in the Siem Reap area. One can also find imported varieties here.
Wild mushrooms are another thing... Abundant during the rainy season, a colourful variety of wild mushrooms are hunted and harvested within the Temple Complex, and sold in the markets and along the main road leading to Angkor Wat.
