The Cambodians of yesteryear may not have carved the Angkorian temples into the veritable works of art that they truly are—artisans from India did that, we are told—but Cambodians of today are creative in their own way, and continue some of the traditions of a bygone era. Village folk, adept with their hands, make use of locally available materials to create souvenirs such as Jew's harps, flutes, drums, and reusable bamboo straws; and items like cow bells, mats, knives, traps, rice sifters, baskets, fish nets, and such, used in daily life.
