Fruits
Cambodia is awash with tropical fruit: citrus; eggfruit, avocado, lychee, longan, langsat, rambutan, mango, durian, dragon fruit, custard apple, cashew, rose apple, pineapple, papaya, guava, passion fruit, soursop, santol, chiku, jackfruit, snake fruit, mangosteen, star fruit, milk fruit, wood apple. All are enjoyed with reckless abandon...
But it is the wild fruit here--much of it sour, and often with more seeds than flesh--that captivates Cambodians:
Then come the imported varieties, such as pomegranates and grapes; persimmons, cherries, apples, plums, strawberries, pears, kiwi fruit, and more. All are available seasonally, in local wet markets here.
