Apis florea
These docile bees, that can often be found in towns and villages, readily take flight when disturbed, and are under constant threat, year round, by countless opportunistic villagers and traditional honey hunters who pillage this Dwarf Honeybee species for its highly prized honey and larvae.
Rampant exploitation of florea bees--not at all scientifically documented here--inevitably impacts negatively on the population of these important pollinators whose combs are quite easily taken with just a puff of smoke.
